Donna Lou Novy, 89, Mandan, passed away March 12, 2019, of natural causes at Sunset Drive-a Prospera Community nursing home.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Christ the King Church, 505 10th Ave. NW, Mandan, with the Rev. Nick Schneider officiating. Burial will be at Mandan Union Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday at Eastgate Funeral Service, 2302 E. Divide Ave., Bismarck.
Donna was born in Wing July 7, 1929, to Toleff and Ethel Suby. She graduated from Wing High School and attended Dickinson Teachers College. After a short stint as a one-room country school teacher, she married Peter Novy in August 1947 and started a family. They had three children, Peter, Richard and Susan. In 1963, after many years of living on the ZX Ranch west of Wing, they moved to Mandan.
In her later years, she enjoyed traveling to visit her son and daughter-in-law and grandchildren in Colorado. She also made trips to Rome, Ireland and Hawaii.
Donna is survived by her son, Peter Novy, Boston; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Novy, Denver; her three grandsons, Richard and his wife, Jennifer, Anchorage, Alaska, Robert and his wife, Jennifer, Aurora, Colo., and Ryan and his wife, Cindy, Aurora. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Danielle and Jeffrey from Anchorage, and Jourdan, Chance, Riley, Ryan and Charly of Aurora.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; her son, Richard Novy; her daughter, Susan Carmen; and her parents.
