Beth Elaine (Ward) Nordquist died peacefully Jan. 10, 2018, in Bismarck, at the age of 81. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 15, at Bismarck Funeral Home, with Donnie Miller officiating. Burial will take place later this year in Corona, S.D. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Beth Elaine Nordquist’s life.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bismarck Funeral Home.
Beth was born Dec. 28, 1936, in Waubay, S.D., to Charles and Florence Ward. She married Elroy Eugene Nordquist, April 25, 1953, in Racine, Wis. While living there, three of their six children were born. In 1959, they returned to Summit, S.D., where their remaining three children were born. Beth worked various jobs throughout her lifetime, but eventually retired at the age of 72 as a supervisor of Environmental Services in Washington state. Following her retirement she resided in Watertown, S.D., until her car accident Jan. 9, 2015. Following the car accident she moved to St. Gabriel’s Community in Bismarck.
Beth was an energetic and compassionate individual who loved to care for her loved ones in their time of need. She was an active and dedicated member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses organization and often volunteered her time to help others learn to appreciate the Bible's promises. She will be dearly missed by her family and the many friends she had in her life.
Beth is survived by her children, Brian Nordquist, Milbank, S.D., Rhonda (Darrell) Boyle, Watertown, Scott (Leslie) Nordquist, Bakersfield, Calif., Jackie (Paul) Koedam, Mandan, Lisa Nordquist, Mandan, Jared (Monica) Nordquist, Goshen, Ky. In addition, Beth is survived by 17 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Elroy Eugene Nordquist; her parents, Charles and Florence Ward; as well as seven brothers and seven sisters.
The family would like to thank her many caregivers, doctors, nurses, and all who took the time to care for her.
