Two semi-trucks hauling wind turbine blades blocked traffic in Mandan on Saturday, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.
Multiple trucks were transporting the blades from Aberdeen, S.D., to Glen Ullin. After being escorted by troopers onto Interstate 94 heading west, they took an unexpected exit off their permitted route onto the Expressway in Mandan.
The trucks got stuck at the intersection of the off-ramp and Memorial Highway, blocking all lanes on Memorial Highway.
Troopers escorted the trucks through Mandan onto old Highway 10 and back to I-94. Traffic was shut down multiple times at intersections.
The two drivers, who work for Bulldog Highway Express of Charleston, S.C., were cited for violating the terms of their permits, the Highway Patrol said.
