Bismarck Tribune Award recipient April Lund.

For April Lund, the finish line of a half marathon is not the end of the race.

The Bismarck personal trainer likes to look for members of her track club and run alongside them as she cheers them on.

“She encourages them to keep going and do the best they can,” said Skip Duemeland, one of Lund’s clients.

Going above and beyond for clients is one reason Lund is sought after as a personal trainer and wellness coach at Gold’s Gym.

“Whenever she works with someone, it’s like you’re the only person on the planet,” said Lund’s friend, Patrick Nagel.

Lund started her career after overcoming alcohol addiction. Now she works to help others become healthier.

She founded the GYS Track Club, or Get You Sun, designed to help people of all ages and fitness levels support one another. The club has more than 100 members.

In addition, Lund is active in giving back to volunteer and community organizations.

“She just gives and gives and gives of herself,” said Sommer Jacob, a friend and client of Lund’s. "Her heart is really in helping make other people's lives better."
