Standing Rock concert to encourage voting

  • 0

Musician Dave Matthews and actor Mark Ruffalo will be at a concert Saturday on the Standing Rock reservation aimed at encouraging Native Americans to vote in the Nov. 6 election.

Phyllis Young, who is involved with the Stand-N-Vote campaign, said the concert is a rally to promote voting, particularly with young people.

Over the past week, the tribe's enrollment office has been issuing IDs to voters who do not have street addresses on their IDs, Young said.

Young said there will be a machine printing new tribal IDs at the concert on Saturday at the Prairie Knights Casino and Resort. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are not required.

The concert will be live-streamed. For more information, visit www.standnvote.org.
