Purses and Pearls to raise funds for cancer awareness

  • 0

The ninth annual Purses and Pearls event kicks off the holiday season on Nov. 30 by benefiting the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.

New this year is the Crave a Cure dessert-tasting competition, in which local businesses will hand out dessert samples to attendees, who can vote for the people’s choice award. Local celebrities will be judging the desserts as well.

“We’re really excited to be adding a dessert tasting to Purses and Pearls,” said Kim Kuhlmann, North Dakota grassroot manager with the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network. “Our attendees will be able to indulge their sweet teeth as they get started on their shopping list and support a great cause.”

The event also offers live music, hors d’oeuvres, drinks, prize drawings and a silent auction of new, designer and vintage purses along with jewelry, accessories and gift packages.

The event is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Northern Lights Atrium at the North Dakota Heritage Center.

Tickets are available for $35 by calling 701-250-1022 or online at

Proceeds from the event help advance legislation at the local, state and federal level in an effort to reduce cancer rates and better the lives of those who have been diagnosed with cancer.
