Nearly 90 purses have been donated to a fundraiser for the McLean Family Resource Center, which is in the midst of constructing a new building.
Purse-A-Palooza, planned for 11:30 to 2 p.m. March 3 at the Washburn Memorial Building, will consist of dozens of new purses up for silent auction, a raffle for several high-end designer purses, plus a freewill luncheon.
“We will be working to raise the remaining money throughout the next two years, so we can operate debt-free,” said Pamela Link, the board's president. “The new center will help us help our increasing number of clients; plus, it will bring back the much needed clothing pantry and hopefully expand our food bank.”
Link said the board has secured high-end purses, such as Versace, Coach, Michael Kors, Vera Wang, HS Collection and Moschino.
“We needed to get creative to bring a new event, which we hope will attract hundreds of attendees,” Link said. “There are plans for musical entertainment as well to round out the day. "
Purse donations are being accepted until March 1 and can be dropped off or mailed to the center at 718 Main Ave., Washburn, ND 58577.
