In response to the eruption of Volcano Fuego on June 3 in Guatemala, The God's Child Project and Charity Lutheran Church, Bismarck, have teamed up to launch a Pack the Tent campaign to collect supplies for victims of the eruption.
The final day for dropping off supplies is Wednesday. Download a supply list at www.CharityLutheran.org. Items may be dropped off at the church, 120 Aspen Av., Bismarck, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
“As we wrap up the campaign, we will pack up the suitcases with supplies, fly them to Guatemala and distribute them to people in need,” Hannah Tollefsrud, Community Engagement Coordinator at GCP, said.
Donations can be made online at www.godschild.org or by calling (701) 255-7956. Mail checks to PO Box 1844, Attn: Pack the Tent, Bismarck, ND 58502.
“The people we are helping were living in extreme poverty, to begin with, and then had their lives upended within a matter of minutes,” Tollefsrud said. “It is up to us to help them rebuild their lives after this devastating experience.”
