More than 100 inmates of the North Dakota State Penitentiary in Bismarck raised $1,035 in a charity walk earlier this month.
Fifteen prison staff also participated in the event held Oct. 19 in the prison's recreation yard.
Proceeds from the charity walk are to benefit St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, according to the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Prisoners and staff also raised more than $6,600 from two previous charity events in the past year.
"These events give residents and staff the opportunity to foster positivity and allow an opportunity to give back to the community," the DOCR said in a statement.
