The North Dakota Association of Nonprofit Organizations will present the 2019 North Dakota Nonprofits Awards during a luncheon at 12:15 p.m. June 6 at the Fargo Holiday Inn. Three major awards will be given out at the event.
The Walt Olegaard Leadership Award is given to an individual who has strengthened North Dakota through long-term commitment to leadership, volunteerism and philanthropy. This year's recipient is Franklin G. Larson, philanthropist and founder of Starion Bank.
The Partnership Building Award is presented to a business or institution that has demonstrated community leadership and built partnerships within the nonprofit sector. The 2019 recipient is the Firstlink Statewide Suicide Follow Up Call Team.
The Emerging Leader Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant impact in strengthening the nonprofit sector in a relatively short time. This year's recipient is Billy Jo Zielinski, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish North Dakota.
"NDANO annual awards recognize excellence in the state nonprofit sector," NDANO Board president Kara Geiger said. "This year's recipients are to be commended for their commitment to making North Dakota a better place to live, work and play."
