The Morton County Sheriff’s Office will host Cocoa with a Cop from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Morton/Mandan Law Enforcement Center in Mandan.
The sheriff and deputies invite the community for cocoa and conversation to continue building relationships with those they serve. Those who attend can ask questions and discuss matters that don’t necessitate a call or visit to the sheriff’s office.
“Events like this are important to us because we want our community — especially the children — to be comfortable with our deputies and to get to know us so they won’t hesitate to approach us if the need arises,” said Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier. “It’s also a great time for adults to connect with us or express concerns in an informal setting.”
Cocoa with a Cop was an idea brought to the sheriff by one of his deputies who wanted to offer a twist on the traditional Coffee with a Cop to encourage children to attend.
Those who attend during the first hour may enjoy a visit from Santa Claus. Attendees will also receive a gift bag.
