State Sen. Dwight Cook, R-Mandan, is recovering after a fall that cracked his upper femur.
Cook said he was shoveling his driveway Nov. 24 when he slipped and fell near the street.
His injury didn't require surgery, according to Cook, adding that he has to stay off his right leg for about six to 10 weeks.
He's using a wheelchair as "the easiest way to get around," as well as a walker, he said. He may use crutches eventually.
Cook attended the Monday and Tuesday portions of the Legislature's three-day organizational session, but watched Gov. Doug Burgum's budget address from home on Wednesday.
"My goal is to walk into the Capitol on Jan. 3," he said.
The Legislature convenes that day for its 2019 session.
