WASHINGTON - House and Senate negotiators have agreed on a final version of the Interior Appropriations bill that provides funds for North Dakota.
Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., said the bill includes:
n $4.4 million for operations at United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, as well as another $250,000 for the first step in Dorgan's effort to establish the school as a new regional training center for Indian law enforcement.
n $1.2 million to expand and strengthen water systems in Valley City, Washburn and Stutsman County.
n In addition, the bill includes a $50 million increase for tribal law enforcement requested to fund the construction of tribal detention facilities and hiring of new Bureau of Indian Affairs and tribal police and corrections officers.
n $344,540 for Dakota Prairie Grassland Leafy Spurge Control. The funding will be used by the U.S. Forest Service to control leafy spurge.
The Interior Appropriations bill now goes to the House and Senate for a final vote.
