Gideon's Brewing Co. is planning a move from Lincoln to the former Laughing Sun Brewing Co. site in Bismarck.

Bismarck City Commissioners have scheduled a Sept. 24 public hearing before voting on whether to grant the microbrewery a liquor license to operate at 107 North St. Laughing Sun occupied the site before moving to 1023 E. Front Ave. last year.

"I think it's just a great opportunity down there. There's so many bars, restaurants that people just frequent all the time, and go from bar to bar to restaurant to restaurant," Gideon's owner David Duma said.

Gideon's also will need approval from the Bismarck Planning and Zoning Commission for a special use permit on Sept. 25.

Duma said renovations will start soon after the permit and license are in hand.

"It will definitely be a different setup," he said. "We are currently in a shop condo out in Lincoln. And this will be a very different type of look and feel."

Duma also said he is looking to add two beers to the eight offered but doesn't yet know what type they will be.

"I'm working on some of them right now," he said.
