AARP North Dakota is offering free document shredding to the public from 8 a.m. to noon April 21 in the south parking lot of Gateway Mall, 2700 State St. in Bismarck and Fargo.

To avoid identity theft and limit exposure to this form of fraud, people should shred and securely dispose of documents that contain personal information, such as Social Security numbers, birth dates, bank account numbers and even home addresses.

Staff and volunteers from AARP North Dakota will be on hand to assist consumers, who can securely dispose of as many as two boxes of sensitive personal documents.

Local partners supporting the events are The Bismarck Tribune, Sure Shred and Gateway Mall.
