The Mandan School Board approved a new contract with teachers on Wednesday that includes an increase in teachers' salaries.
The 2019-21 negotiated agreement includes a $1,700 increase in pay for teachers this upcoming school year and an $800 increase the following year. Also, teachers will continue to get pay raises based on education and experience in 2020-21.
School district representatives and negotiators with the Mandan Education met three times and reached a tentative agreement last week.
"I wish to commend the MEA on working in collaboration and cooperation to achieve this agreement. We have some of the best teachers, and we are happy they are being rewarded for their dedication to the district and our students," Jeff Fastnacht, assistant superintendent, said in a news release Wednesday.
