A 16-year-old boy has been charged with attempted murder in connection to a non-fatal shooting on Sunday.

Mandan police responded to an incident at about 8:40 p.m. Sunday on the 200 block of Third Avenue Northeast. When the arrived, they found a 27-year-old woman who was shot in the back.

The woman was taken to a Bismarck hospital with no life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested and taken to the Youth Correctional Center in Mandan.

In addition to attempted murder, police say the boy has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a weapon, reckless endangerment and delivery of an imitation controlled substance.

Police also are seeking a man seen running from the area just after the shooting on Sunday. A witness told police he was wearing "all dark clothing."
