A 16-year-old boy has been cited for attempted murder in connection to a non-fatal shooting on Sunday.

Mandan police responded to an incident at about 8:40 p.m. Sunday on the 200 block of Third Avenue Northeast. When the arrived, they found a 27-year-old woman who was shot in the back.

The woman was taken to a Bismarck hospital with no life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The 16-year-old boy was arrested and taken to the Youth Correctional Center in Mandan.

In addition to attempted murder, police say the boy has been cited for aggravated assault with a weapon, reckless endangerment and delivery of an imitation controlled substance.

Police also are seeking a man seen running from the area just after the shooting on Sunday. A witness told police he was wearing "all dark clothing."
