A tow truck reportedly stolen in Mandan after its driver fled east on Interstate 94 was recovered from a slough near McKenzie, according to Sgt. Wade Kadrmas of the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
A North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper attempted to conduct a traffic stop after the vehicle was reported stolen at 12:45 p.m. Monday.
The suspect, in an attempt to elude officers, turned south at Exit 176, then drove off the road into a field. NDHP aircraft and a Burleigh County Sheriffs Department drone located and monitored the suspect as officers closed in to his location, according to a report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The suspect was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, fleeing, reckless driving and driving under suspension.
