North Dakota's eight presiding judges have been re-elected to their positions, effective last Friday.
Among them is Gail Hagerty, presiding judge of the South Central Judicial District, which includes Burleigh and Morton counties. Hagerty also is the longest serving of the current presiding judges, first elected in 2004.
North Dakota presiding judges are elected by their peers to three-year terms by secret ballot.
Presiding judges are essentially chief administrative officers for their district, responsible for court services and case assignments.
