Mandan police announced late Thursday a person of interest has been detained in connection with the multiple homicide investigation concerning the four bodies discovered Monday morning at RJR Maintenance and Management, 1106 32nd Ave. S.E.

The Mandan Police Department, the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the McLean County Sheriff's Office were following up on a lead that led investigators to Washburn, authorities said.

A spokesman for the McLean County Sheriff’s Office said the agency assisted the BCI in apprehending the person of interest about 4 p.m. Thursday in Washburn, which is about 40 miles north of Mandan.

Police have planned a news conference for 9 p.m., which will be livestreamed on the Bismarck Tribune's Facebook page.
