A 42-year-old man was shot by officers Wednesday night in Alexander, according to a news release from the McKenzie County Sheriff's Department.

The man, whose name was not released, is in stable condition. No officers were injured.

McKenzie County Sheriff Gary Schwartzenberger said Thursday afternoon that the man was released from Trinity Health in Minot and was transported to the McKenzie County Correctional Facility.

The sheriff's department responded to a domestic disturbance around 10 p.m. Wednesday. The man was reportedly armed.

Schwartzenberger would not say whether the man shot at officers, how many times the man was shot and how many officers were involved.

The man shot "most likely" faces domestic violence-related charges, according to the sheriff.

The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is investigating the shooting. Officers involved have been placed on administrative leave.
