A man driving a stolen vehicle fled from law enforcement in Bismarck Saturday before getting stuck in a field near McKenzie, the North Dakota Highway Patrol said.

A trooper responded to a report of a reckless driver about noon Saturday along Interstate 94 east of Bismarck. The trooper attempted to make a traffic stop but the vehicle fled eastbound on I-94 at a high rate of speed, the Highway Patrol said.

Near Exit 176, the vehicle drove through the median and headed east in the westbound lanes of I-94 before exiting and driving south through the town of McKenzie. The driver fled east of McKenzie into a field and got stuck. The driver then fled on foot before he was apprehended.

The driver was identified as Jeffrey Sandoval, 39. The vehicle had been reported stolen out of Bismarck, authorities said. Sandoval was taken to the Burleigh-Morton County Detention Center.
