A Bismarck police detective is investigating a report of animal cruelty related to a hamster thrown from an apartment building deck.

Bismarck Police Officer Pat Renz said an animal control officer spoke with a woman whose babysitter reportedly saw people throw the hamster from the deck of at least the second story of the building on the 2900 block of Ohio Street on Thursday morning.

Renz said three suspects include a 22-year-old woman, a 21-year-old woman and a girl. 

He also said the condition of the hamster is unknown.

A detective has the case for further investigation.
