Morton County Sheriff Kyle Kirchmeier has ruled out foul play as a cause of death for 51-year-old Victor Newberry of Glen Ullin, found dead outside his vehicle on Dec. 27.

The autopsy found that Newberry died of hypothermia due to prolonged exposure to cold outdoor weather, Kirchmeier said. The sheriff added that alcohol played a role in Newberry's death.

The case has been officially classified as an unattended death and is closed, Kirchmeier said.
