Mandan police intend to release details today regarding a Dec. 2 shooting in town.

Mandan Police Lt. Pat Haug, who indicated Monday he is preparing information to release regarding the shooting incident on the 800 block of Poplar Street, said a crime is involved in the shooting that sent a 22-year-old man to the hospital with a gunshot wound to his leg. Haug previously described the shooting as "complex."

He said there is "a number of people" involved in the Dec. 2 shooting and police are "still trying to track down a couple of them."

Haug also said police believe a crime occurred in the shooting from Friday afternoon on the 1000 block of First Street Northwest in Mandan.

Police reported Saturday that a private citizen took a person shot in the incident to Sanford Hospital.

A number of people are tied up in that incident, including witnesses, the injured party and potential suspects, according to Haug.

"We're still investigating," he said.

Police are seeking two people of interest in Friday's shooting: 36-year old Samuel Lee Nichols and 26-year old Shannon Gerber.

Nichols is about 5-feet-7, 165 pounds with brown eyes and blond hair.

Gerber is about 5-feet-8, 180 pounds with brown eyes and auburn hair.
