Morris Brickle-Hicks was tried in September 2017 for the April 2016 death of Misty Coffelt. The jury convicted him of her murder.

Convicted murderer Morris Brickle-Hicks filed a notice to appeal earlier this month, weeks after he was sentenced to life in prison without parole for fatally stomping Misty Coffelt in 2016.

A jury convicted Brickle-Hicks at trial in September of Class AA felony murder. South Central District Judge John Grinsteiner handed down his sentence last month.

Brickle-Hicks’ attorney, James Loraas, did not return a phone message for comment.

Brickle-Hicks, 35, is incarcerated at the North Dakota State Penitentiary in Bismarck.
