Legacy High School student Micah Schlittenhardt was crowned Miss North Dakota’s Outstanding Teen this weekend in Williston. She competed in interview, talent, lifestyle and fitness, evening gown and on-stage question. She will go on to compete in Miss America’s Outstanding Teen scholarship competition in Orlando, Fla., this summer.
As a participant in Dance for Parkinson's, Schlittenhardt says she will carry that theme as her platform.
"A recent study from the European Journal of Epidemiology found that Parkinson’s is linked to pesticides. Because of North Dakota’s large farm population, experts believe the high rates of Parkinson’s in North Dakota is linked to agriculture," Schlittenhardt wrote in her resume. "There has never been a better time for our communities to increase their support to those coping with the condition."
