CELEBRATION OF LIGHTS

Gabby Hurley holds daughter Rebel, 2, at the 33rd annual Celebration of Lights tree lighting in 2017 on the North Dakota Capitol grounds. The evergreen tree lighting had its beginning in 1985 and is sponsored by Mental Health America of North Dakota. First lady Kathryn Helgaas Burgum turned the lights on the Tree of Hope situated near the Governor's Residence.

The annual Celebration of Lights tree lighting ceremony, sponsored by Mental Health America of North Dakota and ND Federation of Families for Children’s Mental Health, will be held on the front lawn of the Governor’s Residence at 4:45 p.m. Thursday.

The Tree of Hope serves as a beacon of light to help erase the stigma of mental illness and a reminder of the need for continued advocacy for children and adults with mental health needs and their families.
