65-year-old Bismarck woman dies in crash

A 65-year-old Bismarck woman died Wednesday from injuries she sustained in a two-vehicle crash in south Bismarck.

The crash occurred at 12:49 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Burleigh Avenue and University Drive, according to Bismarck Police Lt. Jeff Solemsaas.

A 23-year-old Bismarck woman was driving a Volkswagon Jetta northbound on University Drive when it struck a Toyota Corolla traveling westbound on Burleigh Avenue, attempting to cross University Drive.

The driver of the Corolla, a 26-year-old Bismarck woman, was transported to a local hospital then airlifted to Fargo for treatment for her injuries. The passenger was the 65-year-old woman who died at the scene.

The driver of the Jetta was taken to a local hospital, where she was treated and then released.

BPD is investigating the crash. Solemsaas said there are no indications of excessive speeding nor alcohol use.

Solemsaas said the name of the woman who died should be released Friday morning.
