Earlier this month at the Central Dakota Humane Society, Chelsea Mayberry gently pets Weebles, a cat stricken with cerebellar hypoplasia, a neurological condition in which the cerebellum is smaller than usual or did not completely develop.

Think you have a cute pet? Submit a picture for The Bismarck Tribune's limited edition 2020 pet calendar.

The Tribune is seeking photos of your adorable pet or pets — any animal — to be featured in the calendar. Photos can be submitted Monday through Aug. 16.

From Aug. 21 to Sept. 4, people can vote for their favorite pet or pets by paying $1. The top 12 pets with the highest number of votes will get a professional photo taken that will print on a calendar month, which will also be featured in the Tribune that month.

Proceeds from the calendar sales will go to the Central Dakota Humane Society. Calendars will go on sale Sept. 27, and will be available for purchase at the Tribune or the Central Dakota Humane Society.

The shelter relies on donations from the community in order to continue rescuing and helping pets in need, according to Cameo Skager, communications and development director.

"The Bismarck Tribune’s pet calendar contest will be a great fundraiser for the CDHS shelter. We’re grateful to the Tribune and to the calendar sponsors," Skager said. "We can’t wait to see all the cute and crazy pet pictures that people submit."

Tribune Publisher Gary Adkisson said the goal is to raise as much money as possible for the shelter.

"We know how much people love their pets so our goal is to give animal lovers the opportunity to share their love of pets with the whole community and to raise money for the Humane Society to continue their good work," he said.
