Two people were injured and a Mandan man was cited for drunken driving Wednesday morning after the vehicle he was driving rolled and burned on River Road in Bismarck.

Bismarck police Lt. Luke Gardiner said the man, 21, was also cited for reckless driving and failure to maintain control. The driver and a 22-year-old male passenger, also from Mandan, were taken to a Bismarck hospital for treatment of injuries. The passenger was later released. The driver was flown to Fargo for further treatment.

Gardiner said the SUV in which the men were traveling was southbound in the 800 block of River Road at about 12:35 a.m. The vehicle left the road, went through a guard rail, hit a tree and rolled, coming to rest near the river.

Speed may have been a factor in the accident, Gardiner said.
