The Bismarck Fire Department responded to two fires at the same mobile home Monday afternoon.
At about 3:44 p.m. Monday, dispatch received a report of a fire at a mobile home on the 700 block of West Sweet Avenue, according to a news release from the fire department.
Fire crews that responded found smoldering materials underneath the trailer. Witnesses told crews that workers had been using a space heater to thaw frozen pipes located on the underside of the trailer and ignited combustible materials.
The materials were removed, and a fire crew used a thermal imaging camera to scan for heat and put water on the affected area. The property was then turned over to the property owner and crews left the scene at about 4:24 p.m.
At about 5:34 p.m. Monday, dispatch received another report of a fire at the same mobile home. Responding fire crews reported heavy smoke on the outside of the trailer and underneath. They used multiple hose lines to put out the fire.
Thirteen firefighters responded to the scene, along with Bismarck Police Department and Metro Area Ambulance.
The fire has been ruled accidental. The estimated property loss is $10,000.
