One of four teens charged in connection with what authorities described as a riot at the Youth Correctional Center in Mandan changed his pleas in district court on Tuesday.
Starson Buckles, 17, pleaded guilty to 13 charges, among them aggravated assault, simple assault on a peace or correctional officer, terrorizing, preventing arrest and conspiracy to commit escape.
The charges stemmed from a Jan. 28 incident at YCC during which several staff members were injured. A Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation official said at the time that the injuries were not serious.

According to court documents, a North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper responded to an "active riot" taking place at YCC. When he arrived, he found four inmates trying to escape.
The four were residents of Pine Cottage, one of several housing structures on the YCC campus. It houses high-risk or high-maintenance male juveniles, and serves as the intake cottage for all new male admissions, according to the Department of Corrections website.
Buckles will be held at YCC until a pre-sentence investigation is completed.
