SUCHYFEST

Nearly 200 people gathered outside Bohemian Hall on Highway 6 south of Mandan for the annual Suchyfest held every year on the Saturday night closest to the full August moon. Above, Chuck Suchy, center, performs his song "Burma Shave Boogie" while in back are, from left, musician Billy Williams Sullivan playing mandolin, supporting vocalists Linda Suchy, Steve Murray, Andra Suchy and musican Darin King on standup bass. The Suchyfest revolves around the music of Chuck Suchy, who farms near the concert site and has invited a varied lineup of musicians and family members to perform over the years. Many attending have never missed a Suchyfest that Chuck Suchy said has now been held for 15 or 16 years with an ongoing family "debate" on what year the event began. Before introducing many songs Chuck Suchy communicated with the audience and before West Dakota Breezes he spoke of the importance of the earth to all people. Next year's Suchyfest is being planned for the Saturday night closest to August's full moon.

The Suchy Family Concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Bohemian Hall outside of Mandan.

The outdoor concert will feature the music of Chuck and Linda Suchy, along with their children Andra and Ben, as well as other musicians. The Bohemian Hall is 8 miles south of Mandan on Highway 6.

The concert will cost $10 at the gate. People are advised to bring a lawn chair.
