Sanford Health in Bismarck will host an opioid education event for the community. First lady Kathryn Helgaas Burgum is scheduled to speak at the event.

The event, "Time to Talk: Opioid Addiction Caring for our Community," will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the University of North Dakota Center for Family Medicine building, 701 E. Rosser Ave. in Bismarck.

The event will focus on socio-economic impacts of opioids, stigma, shame, law enforcement prevalence and stories of addiction. Other speakers include Bismarck Police Sgt. Mike Bolme and Jennifer Horning, of the organization Face It Together.
