A man has been sentenced to two years in state prison for starting fires in the bathroom of the Radisson Hotel in Bismarck.

Nicolas Tanner Yellowbird, of Bismarck, was charged with felony endangering by fire after starting multiple fires inside a bathroom of the hotel on Feb. 27, 2018.

On Tuesday, Yellowbird pleaded guilty to the charge, and South Central District Judge David Reich sentenced Yellowbird to two years in prison, with credit for 122 days Yellowbird spent in jail.

Yellowbird's sentence is to run concurrent with the sentence he receives in a separate federal case. In December, Yellowbird was indicted on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault by a habitual offender.

Yellowbird signed a plea agreement with federal prosecutors last month and pleaded guilty to the charge of domestic assault by a habitual offender.

He was convicted on at least two separate prior occasions for domestic violence simple assault in 2007 and 2008, according to the indictment.

Yellowbird is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court on May 29.
