North Dakota Highway Patrol squad car

A Hazen man died in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in Morton County.

North Dakota Highway Patrol said the crash occurred at about 2:34 p.m. on Highway 31, a mile north of New Salem.

According to Highway Patrol, Kenneth Miller, 74, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado north on Highway 31. Duane Reister, 80, of Mandan, was in a 2015 Cadillac Escalade that was facing east on a gravel approach, and was backing up to turn around.

Reister pulled out his SUV in front of the Miller's truck, which struck the SUV in the northbound lane.

New Salem Ambulance transported both drivers to Sanford Health in Bismarck, where Miller was pronounced dead upon arrival.

This crash remains under investigation.
