The city of Lincoln is parting ways with its police chief of less than a year, Greg Leveling.
“He was hired to be a working chief and it wasn’t working out, so we let him go,” Mayor Gerarld Wise said. He declined to comment further.

Leveling was hired in November 2018, Councilman Tom Volk said. The city of about 3,700 now has a police force of four. Applications were being sought for an additional officer, and the council hopes to have that position and that of chief filled by Jan. 1, Volk said.
Attempts to reach Leveling for comment were unsuccessful.
