State Rep. Jason Dockter, R-Bismarck, announced Tuesday he will seek re-election to the North Dakota Legislature. 

Dockter was first elected in 2012 to represent District 7, which includes northeast Bismarck, part of Burleigh County north of Bismarck and the city of Lincoln. 

During the 2017 session, Dockter served as vice chairman of the Finance and Taxation Committee and was a member of the Government and Veterans Affairs Committee. He is vice chairman of the interim Taxation Committee and a member of the interim Employee Benefits Programs Committee. 

Dockter said his experience as a small business owner and veteran help him serve constituents and the state. 

“I will continue to work to reduce taxes, support K-12 funding and promote a positive business climate,” he said.

The District 7 Republican nominating convention is at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at Liberty Elementary School in Bismarck.
