Costco will need approval from the City Commission for the land to be annexed.
The company has submitted a site plan that city departments will be reviewing. The next step for Costco is to get the site plan approved and submit building permit requests, Community Development Director Ben Ehreth said.
Bismarck still is not listed under “locations coming soon” on the Costco website. The Washington state-based warehouse club has said it discusses new locations only if they are "opening soon."
Costco is a worldwide store that has merchandise and specialty departments exclusively for members. The company operates nearly 800 stores with the majority in the U.S. and Canada. The closest to Bismarck is in West Fargo.
