A lieutenant with the Burleigh County Sheriff's Department has been placed on administrative leave.
Burleigh County Sheriff Kelly Leben said Lt. Casey Kapp was placed under administrative leave on Wednesday pending an internal investigation. Leben declined to comment on specifics of the investigation because it is ongoing.
On Friday, a woman who claimed to have gone on a date with Kapp filed a restraining order against Kapp, according to court records.
Leben said the sheriff's department is following up on claims made in the woman's petition for the restraining order.
"It’s an unfortunate situation any time we have an employee accused of misconduct. We’re trying to make sure we conduct a thorough investigation, but at the same time we want to complete this as quickly as possible so we can bring a resolution to this," he said.
