A Bismarck woman who allegedly possessed drugs in jail also is accused of injuring two correctional officers as they attempted to search her, according to an affidavit.

Jessica Broom, 31, resisted the officers as she was being searched on Sept. 21 at the Burleigh Morton Detention Center, authorities allege. One officer suffered a knee injury and a concussion, and the other sought medical attention for a strained back, the affidavit states.

Broom faces three felony drug charges, two felony assault charges, a felony for tampering with evidence and a misdemeanor drug ingestion count. She made her initial appearance Thursday in South Central District Court. She is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail. No attorney was listed for her in court documents.

Three unrelated felony jury trials are scheduled for Broom in November, court records show. Two are for drug charges and one is for forgery and the unauthorized use of identifying information.
