A senior at the North Dakota State University's School of Nursing, located at Sanford Health in Bismarck, has been named North Dakota Student Nurse of the Year for 2016.

Carlee Fleck, of Bismarck, received the award from the Nursing Student Association of North Dakota at the group’s annual convention held Feb. 19-21 in Bismarck. She participated in interviews with candidates from nursing programs statewide.

“I was very surprised and humbled,” Fleck said in a news release from the school. “I was honored that the faculty would nominate me for this award and grateful for the opportunity.”

Fleck is a member of NDSU’s Student Nurses Association and has helped raise donations and awareness for health- and nursing-related issues.
