A Bismarck man was taken to a local hospital Thursday morning for treatment of injuries he suffered when the bicycle he was riding was struck by a pickup.

The crash occurred about 6 a.m. at Seventh Street and Main Avenue, Lt. Luke Gardiner said. The bicyclist, 29, was eastbound on the south sidewalk. Witnesses told police the man entered Seventh Street without heeding the traffic signal. He was struck by a southbound pickup driven by a 73-year-old Minot man.

The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet, Gardiner said. The extent of his injuries was not known. Police are still investigating and no citations were immediately issued.

Seventh Street was closed for a short time, Gardiner said.
