Rep. Kelly Armstrong, R-N.D., has donated his salary from the 35-day partial government shutdown to the Abused Adult Resource Center in Bismarck.
Armstrong gave a check for $7,500 to AARC, according to a statement issued by the organization on Tuesday.
“We are extremely grateful for his donation to our mission,” said AARC interim executive director Michelle Erickson. “It again shows the family’s longtime support and ties to AARC. We will be using his gift for our shelters that serve as a temporary home for abuse survivors and their children.”
Armstrong's late grandmother, Myrt Armstrong, was a longtime volunteer and benefactor for the AARC and its Seeds of Hope and Gift Thrift Store.
The AARC serves families and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in seven counties of south central North Dakota.
