Devon Wheeler, 18, of Bismarck, was arrested Monday after leading police officers on a high-speed chase on Interstate 94 — with speeds reaching nearly 110 miles per hour — according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

At 4:20 p.m., a NDHP trooper responded to a report of a reckless driver traveling eastbound into Mandan in a vehicle that was reported to be “swerving all over the road.”

The trooper located the vehicle, which was observed speeding, near the Sunset Drive exit and followed it with lights activated.

Wheeler increased his speed to nearly 110 miles per hour continuing east on I-94, according to the NDHP. The suspect eventually stopped on the Bismarck Expressway Bridge, where he was taken into custody “without further incident.”

Wheeler was issued traffic citations for speeding, failure to wear a seatbelt, driving through a red light, driving without liability insurance and failure to display registration tabs.
