A volcano in Guatemala has put volunteer efforts into overdrive for Bismarck-based charity, God’s Child.
The volcano, which is located 31 miles south of Guatemala City, erupted Wednesday. Three people have been killed, according to an organization release.

The 71 individuals from the U.S. and Europe involved in God’s Child programs have been asked to assist with the evacuation, the release said.
Volunteers from Dickinson and Fargo had already returned to the U.S. earlier in the week.
Due to the earthquake in Haiti, many of the supplies in Guatemala had been diverted leaving resources “pretty much exhausted,” the group’s assistant executive director, Christopher Mathew, said.
