Schools face cuts

  • 0

The Bismarck Public Schools superintendent is predicting budget cuts of $6 million due to proposed federal spending reductions.

Half of those cuts could be in salaries and would require the district to eliminate positions, according to a letter sent to school staff by superintendent John Salwei on Wednesday.

The letter said the district receives federal money for special education, reading and math, Head Start and technology.

Salwei wrote that he hoped to reduce staff through attrition, and he asked all parts of the district to look for ways to reduce spending.
