The National Weather Service in Bismarck warns that an Arctic air surge remains on track to begin moving into the Northern Plains throughout the day. Coldest temperatures will occur over the weekend and into Monday. Dangerous wind chills as lows at 50 below zero are forecast to wrap up 2017. Meteorologists warn that exposed skin can develop frostbite within 10 minutes.

Today's high is expected to reach 2 degrees.

There will be two rounds of light snow: tonight through Friday morning and Friday night through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Bismarck. Accumulations will be one to three inches.
