Numerous candidates running for Burleigh County offices will advance to the Nov. 6 general election, following Tuesday’s primary election.

Six of the eight contenders for Burleigh County Commission move on, including incumbents Jim Peluso and Kathleen Jones, who received 6,526 and 5,212 votes, respectively.

Also advancing are Mark Armstrong with 6,118 votes, Steve Schwab with 4,403 votes, Dennis Agnew with 3,667 votes and Leo Vetter with 3,538 votes. Angil Wanner-Koper and Cody Igoe faced defeat, with 2,104 and 1,818 votes, respectively.

In the first contested race for Burleigh County sheriff since 2010, Burleigh County Chief Deputy Kelly Leben received 59.88 percent of the vote, with former Bismarck Police Sgt. Nolan Canright favored by 40.01 percent. Both will advance to the general election.
